The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Belgrade and the conventional software company KISSsoft AG have successfully renewed their collaboration, enabling students to gain direct access to one of the leading software tools for transmission system and gearbox design – KISSsoft®. For educational purposes, KISSsoft AG has granted the faculty 40 five-year licenses for the use of this software. These licenses are primarily intended for students enrolled in the “Design in Mechanical Engineering” module, within the course “High-speed Machine Design”, but the software is also available to other interested students and faculty members for use in their respective courses. Serbia holds strong potential for the development of the aerospace industry. This was clearly demonstrated by second-year Master’s students from the Department of Aerospace Engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. Recently, they presented their final projects from the course “Aircraft Design” to a large audience. Through a range of innovative solutions – from agricultural aircraft and business jets to unmanned and sport aircraft – these young engineers proved they can play a key role in the modernisation of domestic aviation. During the winter semester, students worked in teams to develop various aircraft concepts, applying knowledge across all stages of the design process – from defining technical requirements, through aerodynamic and structural calculations, to engine selection and cost estimation. Prof. Dr Vladimir Popović, Dean of the Faculty Mechanical Engineering in Belgrade, has been awarded a Certificate of Appreciation by the Serbian Association of Importers of Vehicles and Parts and the Belgrade Fair for his outstanding personal and professional contribution to the development and promotion of the automotive industry and vehicle market in the Republic of Serbia. Miloš Lazarević, a PhD student and junior assistant at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Belgrade, won first prize at the conference “Knowledge and Technologies of the Nuclear Industry in the Future” for his project on small modular fusion reactor concepts. The conference was held as part of the Third International Winter Technical School “Knowledge and Technologies of the Nuclear Industry in the Future” in Obninsk, Russian Federation. Over the next five months, Miloš Lazarević will further develop this concept under the mentorship of Prof. Dr Dmitry Samokhin and Prof. Dr Alexandr Nakhabov from the Obninsk Institute for Nuclear Power Engineering. The University of Belgrade, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, recently hosted João Pedro Taborda, Vice President for Government Affairs at Embraer, one of the world’s leading aerospace companies. The distinguished guest was welcomed by the Dean, Prof. Dr Vladimir Popović. The University of Belgrade, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, and TOYO Tire Serbia have signed an Agreement on scientific and technical cooperation, laying the foundation for the development and enhancement of mutual collaboration. The agreement was signed by the Dean, Prof. Dr Vladimir Popović, and the CEO of TOYO Tire Serbia, Mr. Tomohisa Yamaguchi. Students of the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, enrolled in Master’s programmes within the Process Engineering and Environment Protection Module, Thermal Power Engineering Module, Thermal Science Engineering Module, as well as third-year Bachelor students attending the course “Processes and Equipment in Environment Engineering”, recently visited the Vinča Waste Management Centre.
