Embraer Vice President Visits the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering

The University of Belgrade, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, recently hosted João Pedro Taborda, Vice President for Government Affairs at Embraer, one of the world’s leading aerospace companies. The distinguished guest was welcomed by the Dean, Prof. Dr Vladimir Popović.

The meeting was also attended by Vice Dean for International Cooperation and Development, Prof. Dr Maja Todorović, Vice Dean for Finance, Prof. Dr Aleksandar Grbović, and Prof. Dr Marko Miloš. During the discussions, participants explored potential directions for future collaboration between the faculty and Embraer. The faculty’s educational, research, and engineering capacities were presented, along with opportunities for cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

As part of the visit, the guest was introduced to several faculty laboratories. The research activities and projects of the Laboratory for Cybernetics and Mechatronic Systems (CMSysLab) and the Laboratory for Manufacturing Automation were presented by Prof. Dr Živana Jakovljević, Head of both laboratories. The work of the Laboratory for Thermal Turbomachinery and Thermal Power plants was presented by Assist. Prof. Dr Srđan B. Milić and Assist. Prof. Dr Đorđe D. Petković. Particular attention was drawn to the Laboratory for Aerodynamics – Wind Tunnel “Miroslav Nenadović”, presented by Prof. Dr Aleksandar M. Simonović, showcasing its capabilities for experimental research in aerodynamics.

With tens of thousands of employees and a strong global presence, the company is recognised for its development of regional jets, advanced defense systems, and innovative solutions in urban air mobility.

Given Embraer’s position in the global aerospace industry, as well as its strategic importance for Brazil’s technological and economic development, the visit of its high-level representative marks an important step toward establishing and advancing future cooperation with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
